Suggest you try and locate a mixture screw and spring from the carb manufacturer before you start. Then I would use a reversing drill with a left hand drill bit to try and catch the mixture screw -term is misleading it has screw threads but a tapered tip that fits into a matching jet to control the idle and low speed fuel amount- and back it out. If you must procede try the same method and then carefully cut a new slot in the old screw body. Get help if needed, a new carb will be exciting to purchase for sure, whether it is stock or aftermarket. Max
